Barolo Borgogno

It is considered the best superior red wine in Italy and is our principal product. It comes from the grapes of the vine variety Nebbiolo grown in a limited area including eleven country villages in the centre of which lies the homonymous village: BAROLO. It takes the denomination Barolo after a minimum ageing (by law) of three years, two of which in oak casks. When young, it has a fine ruby red colour which with ageing turns into garnet red with more and more evident orange reflections. The perfume and bouquet is ehtereal, persisting, of an intense "goudron". The flavour is dry, harmonic, velvety and has a robust and generous body. The alcohol content varies from a minimum of 13 degrees (%) to more than 14 degrees, depending on the vintage. It is a wine fit for a long ageing, especially if it is kept in a constantly cool and dark environment, and with the bottles arranged horizontally. Due to its particular characteristics, it should be served at the temperature of about 20 degrees C. (65°-70° F.), possibly uncorking the bottle a few hours before, or decanting it in a carafe. It perfectly matches with red meats (roasts, on the spit or grilled) and with fur game.
